A popular fragrance with a wildly wide mass appeal, Dior Sauvage is a smashing hit by anyone’s standard. But can its juice live up to its popularity? And more importantly: is it right for you? Find out in this review.

Overview
Sauvage is a fresh spicy designer men’s fragrance released by Christian Dior in 2015. The nose behind it is Francois Demachy. When it dropped in 2015, it originally came only in eau de toilette or EDT. But Dior has since dropped an Eau de parfum or EDP. It is available in 60 ml, 100 ml, and 200 ml offerings.

Presentation
The bottle is smooth and cylindrical with a nice color gradient going from top to bottom. The dark violet color scheme with the white gradient gives off a dark and mysterious vibe. The ribbed magnetic cap is cylindrical and fits snugly yet is effortless to remove. The look, feel, and design of this bottle is absolutely stunning. Just look at the way it shines under the sun.
On the flipside, I’m not too high on the atomizer (sprayer) as I feel the fragrance exits out too misty to the point where you have to spray several times more to get the same amount of fragrance out of the bottle as you would with another fragrance. So for presentation, I give it 9/10.

Juice
The main notes in this one are an intoxicating combination of bergamot (citrus), pepper, lavender, and ambroxan all of which produce a juice that’s fresh, spicy, and aromatic. The ambroxan base is really noticeable once it dries down. When I smell it, the first thoughts which come to my mind are “dark” “fresh” “masculine” “manly” “man”.
To describe it in layman’s terms, I would say it smells like a warm spicy citrus men’s body wash.
IMO, a brilliant scent in which the popularity is warranted. 9/10

Performance
Performance is probably the biggest letdown of this fragrance and it’s a shame because such a brilliant scent should project better to hit other folks nostrils. It’s what holds this scent back, IMO.
Projection is pretty weak and lacking. You have to practically give the person a hug to really smell it on him after an hour or so which it becomes a glorified skin scent.
Longevity is about average. I get around 4-5 hours on my skin with stretches that can push to the 6-7 hour range.
Impressions are fantastic with this one. You will grab compliments left and right but the catch is that this scent has become so popular that you might not be the only one on the subway wearing it.
Projection 4/10
Longevity 6/10
Impression 7/10
This scent is very versatile and can be worn in all seasons and for all occasions but it really shines on cool autumn nights in a casual setting.

If you only care about smelling good and want something that’s versatile, easy to wear, masculine, something you can put on while going out at night and you don’t really care if others have worn it then you should give Sauvage a try. If you like loud and high projecting fragrances, then you should give this one a pass. What are your thoughts? Does Sauvage live up to its popularity or is it just another overhyped designer fragrance? I’d love to hear your comments below.
