Overview

Shadow by Ghanaty is a men’s fruity oriental scent released by the Saudi perfumery house Ghanaty. It is the top seller from this little known perfume house and it has a huge following in its local market due to the fact the majority of Ghanaty outlets are mall kiosks with high exposure in the ever busy Saudi malls. It is available as a 50ml and 100ml Eau de parfum.

Presentation

Shadow by Ghanaty

The package and bottle on this one are nothing out of the ordinary. There is a little bit of Tom Ford inspiration going on here with the square stopper, though.

The name of this fragrance, shadow, is adeptly referenced with the blacking out of the edge of the bottle which is cool. The atomizer is solid without any issues.

Score: 7/10

Juice (Scent Composition)

The notes of this one are listed as follows:

Top notes: Pineapple, apple, peach, blackcurrant

Middle notes: Jasmine, rose, patchouli, birch

Base notes: Musk, amber, vanilla, sandalwood

A highly complex blend that gives off an absolutely lovely scent. I detect orange as well although it is not officially listed as a note.

If the note accord looks familiar, that’s because it is (Creed Aventus, anyone?)

The thoughts that are evoked when I smell it: “fruity”, “smoky”, and “masculine”.

If I were to describe it in Layman’s terms, I would say that it smells like Creed Aventus with an orange hint (or smoked pineapple and orange).

This is hands down the best Aventus clone I’ve come across.

Score: 10/10

Performance

Projection:  Shadow has beastly projection with just two squirts filling up a room. It projects much much better than Aventus.  9/10

Longevity: Like the fragrance it is cloning, it lasts a pretty long. I get a good 8-10 hours of longevity out of this one.  9/10

Impressions (Complement factor): Seeing as this is Ghanaty’s top seller in a market that consumes more perfume per capita than any other, it comes as no surprise that people love this scent. I have found that I always get noticed and complimented whenever I wear this. Not too long ago, I bought this one for a family member, despite the fact that he despises oriental notes. I was confident that he would love it and in fact, he went through the bottle so quickly and is begging me for another.  10/10

Best Season: Fall and Winter (nights)

Best Occasion: Casual all the way

Is it right for you?

If you love the smell of Aventus but are unwilling or unable to shell out the big bucks, then you might want to scoop this one up if you can. It can be considered an Aventus clone but with some oriental hints coming through in the note accord as well as the hint of orange, it stands out prominently among the many Aventus clones.

What are your thoughts? Have you tried this one? I’d love to hear them down below.
